Egbema Offshore Communities Issue 7-Day Ultimatum to Chevron Over Unresolved Demands

By  Macaulay Warri North, Delta State — The Egbema offshore communities in Warri North Local Government Area have issued a seven-day ultimatum to Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), urging the oil company to address a series of long-standing and  nascent   demands in respect  of ongoing operations in PML 49 etc that have not  been resolved amicably.  The ultimatum, outlined in a press release signed by Comrade Mike JK Tiemo and eleven other community representatives, called for Chevron’s immediate attention to demands related to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), Local Content Act, community development, and employment quotas. Isaac Agbeteyiniro, undertakes a major canal-clearing project to combat the persistent flooding that has long plagued the oil city. On October 6, 2024, Hon. Agbeteyiniro launched an extensive canal clearing and cleaning exercise aimed at mitigating the city’s perennial flooding, thereby safeguarding lives and boosting economic activity. The project targets key flood-prone areas, along the blocked canal starting from Cinema Site and passing through Eburu, Street DDPA, Housing Estate,Robinson Plaza, Ogboru Street, Okere Road, and eventually entering the Okere River.
