A fresh wave of political tension is unfolding in Bomadi Local Government Area following allegations that a group of dissident councillors is orchestrating a plot to destabilise the council for personal and political gain.
The allegations were made public by Hon l Godday Zipamor Ogbein Ama, Chairman of the Bomadi Diaspora Legislators, a body that represents the collective interest and common position of the Bomadi people at home and in Diaspora.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ama accused the councillors of promoting political instability and attempting to unlawfully initiate an impeachment process against the council’s leadership, driven by what he described as “personal interest, egotism, and over-bloated political ambition.”
According to Diaspora Group, the alleged plan includes the removal of the authentic legislative leadership of the council, followed by the dissident
councillors’ defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“If this scheme is allowed to succeed, it will seriously undermine good governance and the steady development that Bomadi LGA has recorded in recent times,” Ama warned.
The diaspora group further declared that the actions of the rascally councillors was not in the interest of Bomadi, people, stressing that the local government “cannot afford to be compromised by self-serving political actors.”
Ama therefore called on Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly to intervene urgently to restore stability and safeguard the integrity of the council.
He also appealed for the immediate reinstatement of the Chairman Hon. Dagidi Andaye and Speaker Rt. Hon. Doubra Wurukeseiye, describing both leaders as indispensable to the continued progress, peace, and development of Bomadi Local Government Area.
