Member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Augustine Uroye (JP), has described the recent visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to the ancient Warri Kingdom as the beginning of a new chapter in the rich and historic journey of the coastal city.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the grand civic reception organized in her honour, Hon. Uroye said the visit has elevated the status of Warri Kingdom on the national stage and reinforced its strategic relevance in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic architecture. According to him, the enthusiastic reception accorded to the First Lady by traditional rulers, political leaders, youths, and women groups demonstrated the unity and pride of the people.
The lawmaker stressed that the visit went beyond ceremonial fanfare and cultural pageantry. He noted that it symbolized renewed federal attention to the Niger Delta and signified stronger collaboration between Warri Kingdom, Delta State, and the Federal Government.
“This visit represents recognition, inclusion, and respect for our traditional heritage and our contributions to national development,” he stated. “It marks a fresh chapter where partnership and purposeful engagement will define our relationship with the centre.”
Hon. Uroye, popularly known as “Use Your Brain,” emphasized that the First Lady’s presence in Warri would inspire greater federal visibility and unlock new opportunities for development. He expressed optimism that critical sectors such as infrastructure, youth empowerment, women development initiatives, and social investment programmes would receive enhanced support.
According to him, the historic nature of the visit lies in its ability to rekindle hope among the people and reposition Warri Kingdom as a focal point of peace, unity, and progress in the Niger Delta region. He added that the visit has strengthened the bond of friendship and conviviality between the people and the Federal Government.
The Delta legislator also commended the Delta State Government, community leaders, and the planning committee for the seamless organization of the event. He described the reception as a showcase of Warri’s cultural splendour, hospitality, and enduring traditional institutions.
Concluding, Hon. Uroye reiterated that the visit will remain etched in the annals of Warri’s history as a transformative moment. “This is indeed a new chapter,” he affirmed. “It signals stronger federal ties, renewed confidence in governance, and a future anchored on collaboration, peace, and sustainable development for the Great Warri Kingdom.”
