Warri, Delta State – A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Hope George, has thrown his weight behind the Palace of the revered Olu of Warri ahead of the planned grand reception for Nigeria’s First Lady in Warri.
Hope George, in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri, described the visit of the First Lady as a historic moment for the oil-rich city and a unique opportunity to showcase Warri’s rich cultural heritage, unity, and hospitality.
According to him, aligning with the palace underscores the need for synergy between political stakeholders and traditional institutions in promoting peace, development, and inclusive governance in Delta State.
He commended the revered monarch, Ogiame Atuwatse III, for his visionary leadership and commitment to cultural renaissance, youth empowerment, and economic development within the Warri Kingdom and beyond.
“The Palace remains the symbol of unity and identity of the Itsekiri people. It is only proper that we rally around His Majesty in receiving the First Lady with the dignity and grandeur befitting her office,” Hope George stated.
The APC stalwart emphasized that the reception would not only celebrate the First Lady’s visit but also serve as a platform to highlight pressing issues affecting the Niger Delta region, including youth unemployment, environmental remediation, and infrastructural deficits.
He called on political leaders, community heads, youth organizations, and women groups across Warri South and its environs to set aside differences and work collectively to ensure a peaceful and memorable event.
Observers say the alignment between political actors like Hope George and the traditional institution signals a renewed spirit of cooperation in Warri, particularly at a time when unity remains critical for sustainable development in the region.
The First Lady’s visit is expected to attract dignitaries from across Delta State and the wider South-South region, with elaborate cultural displays, security arrangements, and civic participation already underway.
Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the visit will further strengthen ties between the Federal Government and the Niger Delta people, while also reinforcing Warri’s strategic relevance in the national discourse.
