The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has extended warm felicitations to renowned political economist, public intellectual, and founder of Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Patrick Okedinachi Utomi, on the occasion of his Platinum Jubilee, describing him as a towering statesman whose voice has consistently resonated with courage, clarity and conviction in the quest for a better Nigeria.
In a congratulatory message signed by its National Chairman, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, PANDEF lauded Prof. Utomi’s 70-year journey as one marked by intellectual excellence, principled leadership, and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals, economic reforms, and national cohesion.
Ambassador Igali noted that Prof. Utomi’s life reflects an extraordinary blend of scholarship and activism, emphasizing that his contributions to governance discourse and institutional development have profoundly shaped Nigeria’s socio-economic trajectory.
“Professor Pat Utomi stands as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished thinkers and nation-builders. At 70, he remains a vibrant voice for accountability, equity, restructuring and inclusive development. His intellectual interventions over the decades have enriched public policy debates and inspired a generation of leaders,” PANDEF stated.
The forum highlighted Prof. Utomi’s pioneering role in private sector development, recalling his service in both the corporate and public spheres, including his advisory roles to successive governments and his tireless advocacy for transparent governance and ethical leadership.
PANDEF further commended the celebrant’s enduring passion for youth empowerment and value-driven education through the establishment of Pan-Atlantic University, which has become a beacon of academic excellence and character formation in Nigeria.
According to Ambassador Igali, Prof. Utomi’s voice has remained particularly significant in championing fiscal federalism, regional development, and economic restructuring—issues that directly affect the Niger Delta and other federating units.
“His insistence on fairness in resource allocation, devolution of powers, and accountable governance aligns with the aspirations of the Niger Delta people and indeed all Nigerians who yearn for justice and sustainable development,” the statement added.
Describing the septuagenarian as a bridge-builder and moral compass in turbulent political times, PANDEF noted that Prof. Utomi’s interventions have always been guided by patriotism rather than partisanship.
“As he celebrates this milestone, we pray that God grants him renewed strength, robust health and greater wisdom to continue offering guidance to the nation. Nigeria still needs his voice—clear, courageous and constructive,” PANDEF declared.
The forum concluded by wishing Prof. Utomi a joyful celebration and many more impactful years ahead, expressing confidence that his legacy of integrity, scholarship and service will continue to illuminate the path toward national renewal.
The Platinum Jubilee of Professor Pat Utomi, PANDEF affirmed, is not merely a celebration of years, but a celebration of ideas, values and an enduring commitment to the Nigerian project.
